The HACST ZNX employs a counterflow design with no fill media, allowing air and water to move in opposite directions over a large coil surface. It’s ideal for applications requiring efficient refrigerant condensation, compact footprint, and low fouling risk, such as food processing, cold storage, and chemical plants.

Working Principle

Refrigerant vapor enters the internal condensing coil and releases heat as it condenses. Spray water flows downward over the coil while air is drawn upward. Evaporation of the spray water removes heat, and drift eliminators reduce water loss. Collected water recirculates through the pump.

Key Benefits

  • Space-saving design: No fill media allows a larger coil area in a compact enclosure.
  • High resistance to fouling: No fill to clog; ideal in dusty or harsh environments.
  • Freeze resilience: Unobstructed water flow minimizes icing risk in cold climates.
  • Better high-temperature handling: No PVC fill deformation under hot water spray.
  • Efficient = Lower compressor energy: Condensing close to wet-bulb (≈5–7°C approach).

Typical Technical Range

Parameter Typical Range
Capacity 100–2,000 RT
Fan Axial, low-noise
Drift Loss 0.001–0.002%
Materials HDG or SS coil & casing

Engineering Options

  • Inside or rooftop discharge vents
  • Side access doors and coil drain ports
  • Water filtration and chemical dosing setup
  • Optional freeze protection (heat trace or basin heaters)

Selection Guide

  • Use ZNX when fouling or footprint constraints exist.
  • Ensure pump capacity matches spray coverage over coil.
  • Define design wet-bulb and refrigerant condensing conditions accurately.

O&M

  • Monthly: Check spray nozzles and basin cleanliness.
  • Quarterly: Verify eliminators and coil surface; clean if buildup.
  • Seasonally: Freeze mode prep if applicable.

FAQ

Q: How does ZNX compare to ZHX Combined Flow?
A: ZNX offers a smaller footprint & simpler maintenance; ZHX gains extra heat transfer via fill media but needs more maintenance and is less suitable in harsh climates.
