ZNC Counterflow Evaporative Condenser – Ductable & Quiet for Indoor Use

The HACST ZNC is similar to ZNX in using a counterflow condenser but is paired with centrifugal fan(s) capable of overcoming up to ~125 Pa external static pressure. Perfect for indoor machine rooms, hospital rooftops, or any application with ducted discharge or strict noise limits.

Working Principle

Spray water flows downward over the coil while air is drawn up by centrifugal fans. Heated, humid air is ducted or discharged via silencers. Drift is minimized, and water is reused in the basin.

Key Benefits

  • Handles duct and silencer resistance—great for ASHRAE quiet-zone requirements.
  • Lower acoustic signature vs axial under similar static loads.
  • Clean loop retention like ZNX, suitable for contamination-sensitive environments.

Typical Technical Range

Parameter Typical Range
Capacity 120–1,500 RT
Fan ESP Up to 125 Pa
Fan Type Centrifugal, belt or direct drive

Engineering Options

  • Duct adapters, silencers, access for fan maintenance
  • Seismic/roof-mounted bases, corrosion-resistant fan housing
  • Controls with VFD and noise monitoring

Selection Guide

  • Select ZNC where axial fans cannot overcome duct losses.
  • Ensure ESP calculation includes louver, silencer, and duct entries.

O&M

  • Monthly: belt tension and fan bearings check.
  • Quarterly: fan wheel balance and vibration baseline.

FAQ

Q: Can ZNC be used outdoors?
A: Yes—with weatherproof fan enclosures and proper intake weather hoods.
